Who is the Leona Group?
The Leona Group, L.L.C., was formed in 1996 in Michigan by William Coats, Ph.D., a national leader in public education reform.
With a vision of creating a new kind of public school, The Leona Group's mission is to empower all students to own their futures by creating schools that redefine what is possible.
The Leona Group was formed in 1996 in Michigan by Dr. William Coats, a national leader in education reform. Now with over 20 years of history in offering a rich variety of opportunities in K-12 education, The Leona Group has grown from its initial four academies serving less than 1,000 students to providing quality educational choices to over 15,000 students in over 45 schools across four states. The Leona Group is among the largest public charter school systems in Arizona and is also among the largest education service providers in the United States.
In fall 2000, The Leona Group officially moved its corporate headquarters to Phoenix, Arizona, where it oversees the successful operation of all of its public charter schools in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Arizona.
